Belles of the Brawl VI: Molly Falconer

Written by Haymakers for Hope | Jul 13, 2018 7:00:24 PM

During the coming months, we’ll be highlighting our fighters in training for the upcoming Belles of the Brawl VI in Boston on October 5th. They’ve committed to four months of fundraising and training in preparation to get in the ring and literally fight for a cure. Whether they've had first hand experience, their father has passed or their friend has put up a victory against the disease – they’ve all got a story to tell and they’ve all got a reason to fight. Below you’ll hear from Molly Falconer, fighting out EverybodyFights.

Where are you from?
Framingham, MA

Where’d you go to college?
Framingham State (undergrad) Endicott (MBA)

Did you play any sports growing up?
Soccer & Track

What do you do for work?
I'm the Senior Marketing Director at an analytics technology startup.

Why boxing? Did you ever picture yourself fighting?
I started working at a boxing gym during a tough time in my life and found that it was the best therapy ever. I threw myself in to working out and boxing, and the combination pulled me through some really difficult times- since then I've loved it!

Why on earth did you sign up to fight??
I try to give back in any way I can, and I love pushing my body to the limit. Over the years I've "donated" my body to marathons, races, burpee competitions and more in order to raise money for amazing causes. Boxing seemed like the next natural step!

You’re stepping in the ring to literally fight for a cure – Where are you drawing your inspiration from? How has cancer affected you?
Cancer has hit my family though and through- mom, dad, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins... Moving in to friends the stories grow and grow. I can't think of a time where I didn't know someone fighting cancer. I'm using this fight as a platform to share their stories and bring awareness to how prevalent this disease is. Each one of them told me their story is "boring" and to me that just makes them more badass and inspiring. Here they are raising kids, going to work, running companies, driving to soccer practice, cleaning the house doing all those things we all whine about and kicking cancer's butt in their free time. And then telling me they're boring. If that's not humbling, and inspiring, I don't know what is.

What is going to be the most difficult thing to give up during your training? (beer, cheeseburgers, time spent watching TV?)
Nothing. I enjoy every second of misery when training for anything :)

When you’re not throwing punches and training -- what other hobbies/interests do you have?
I love anything outdoors- hiking especially.

Who do you think is the most excited to watch you get punched in the face come fight night?
Oddly, my mom. That woman supports me 100 % in anything!

Be sure to check out her fundraising page and wish her luck! Best of luck, Molly!
