During the coming months, we’ll be highlighting our fighters in training for the upcoming Belles of the Brawl V in Boston on October 5th. They’ve committed to four months of fundraising and training in preparation to get in the ring and literally fight for a cure. Whether they've had first hand experience, their father has passed or their friend has put up a victory against the disease – they’ve all got a story to tell and they’ve all got a reason to fight. Below you’ll hear from Hillary Goodall, fighting out of EverybodyFights in Boston, MA.

Where are you from?
Dover, Massachusetts

Where did you go to college?
Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania

Did you play any sports growing up?
I played lacrosse and swam growing up.

What do you do for work?
I work at BNY Mellon as a Fixed Income Client Analyst.

Why boxing? Did you ever picture yourself fighting?
I can honestly say I have never pictured myself fighting (and still can’t!). But, after attending a few Haymakers for Hope events and seeing the energy in the room, I knew I wanted to be a part of one.

Why on earth did you sign up to fight?
It’s a challenge, and pushes me outside my comfort zone. My dad and my cousin McCahey have both stepped into the ring and said it was one of the best experiences of their life.

You’re stepping in the ring to literally fight for a cure- where are you drawing our inspiration from? How has cancer affected you?
My inspiration is coming from seeing my grandmother, aunt and uncle all lose their battles to cancer, as well as seeing friends and acquaintances fight. My hope is that my generation can be the generation to cure cancer, and that one day a cancer diagnosis will be as easy to cure as the flu.

What is going to be the most difficult thing to give up during your training?
Pizza (with extra ranch and extra hot sauce).

When you’re not throwing punches and training, what other interest and hobbies do you have?
I love to read, cook and spend as much time as I can outside.

Who do you think is the most excited to watch you get punched in the face come fight night?
My dad!
